Hello all my fellow tea lovers,
It’s Chantel here, founder and owner of Wild Blends. We’ve been busy over the first two years, finding our feet and growing our business. But with a new year comes new possibilities, and in 2019 we’ll be starting a monthly newsletter and blog filled with helpful info on all things health and wellbeing. We want to send you insightful nutrition tips, delicious recipes, helpful health pointers, and of course, tea related health benefits. This is our very first newsletter and I thought what better way to kick start it than with a little convo about detox – something most of us feel we could use coming into the new year. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
I don’t know about you, but when I start the new year I always feel so sluggish and tired after the overindulging I do over Christmas, from all the delicious food and one too many cocktails (but hey, aren’t we all guilty of that?).
I always like to kick start the new year in detox mode by drinking and eating food that can help remove those unwanted toxins (and a few extra kilos put on over the holidays!). If you’d like to feel bright and energised again, check out my top detox tips to kick start yourself into wellness today!
Tips for Detox:
1. Avoid fried foods, processed foods and sugar (some fruit is okay). Biscuits, cake, ice cream, chocolate, white bread, pasta, dairy, sugary drinks, coffee and alcohol is best avoided. These foods can put a strain on your body, especially your liver and digestion. By not consuming them, it takes any unwanted burden off the digestive system so it can start to eliminate some of these toxins.
2. Eat a clean, whole food diet. So basically if your food comes in a package, it is usually highly processed. Try to eat a lot of vegetables and some fruit (no more than 2-3 pieces per day) as they are very high in fibre, which will assists in more regular bowel movements, making them very cleansing. They are also jam packed full of antioxidants, nature’s wonderful answer to inflammation and anti-ageing, as well as being high in vitamins and minerals. Some other great foods to include are; lean meats, eggs, fish, raw unsalted nuts and seeds, whole grains such as quinoa, buckwheat and brown rice.
3. Drink plenty of water and herbal teas (caffeine free). When you detox, your body releases toxins that are usually stored in your fat cells, which can place an extra burden on the body. That’s why it’s important to drink a lot of water and even have something a little extra that can help you to remove them. This led me to formulating a tea that would be beneficial at doing just this. Nature’s Cleanse is our detox tea. It contains a special combination of herbs that work by assisting the body to cleanse through its main eliminatory organs; the skin, the liver and the kidneys. Once your body releases toxins, it will go straight to these places to try and get rid of them. These herbs will assist those organs in removing them from the body, so they’re not lingering around, causing any issues.
I know when I follow this clean eating regime, it’s always a sure-fire way to make me feel at my absolute best. It gives me more energy, improves my mood, helps me sleep better and even helps to shed those few extra kilos. (Who wouldn’t want to feel this amazing? Am I right?) I love nutrition, and used in the right way, it can be a very powerful tool to change your overall physiology. It’s amazing what some simple dietary changes can do for your wellbeing. I hope that these tips have been helpful and can be beneficial to your mind, body and soul.
In good health,
Founder & Owner of Wild Blends.
